7-Card Stud

7-Card Stud used to be the most popular poker game around. That is, until Texas Hold ‘em took the game by storm! This classic online poker game is fairly simple to learn to play. Remember, there are no community cards and four of your seven cards can be seen by all the players at your table.

What’s the Deal?
The player with the best possible five card combination wins the pot!

So, How do I Play 7-Card Stud?

  • All players put in an ante.
  • Two pocket cards are dealt face-down to each player. One card is dealt face-up.
  • The player with the lowest face-up card has to place a small bet called a bring-in.
  • The first round of betting begins. You can either:
    Call, Raise or Fold.
  • The fourth card or “The Turn” is then dealt to each player.
  • A second round of betting begins. The player with the highest card showing bets first.
  • A fifth card, called “The River” is dealt face-up to each player.
  • Another round of betting begins.
  • The sixth card is dealt face-up to each player.
  • Another round of betting begins.
  • The seventh and final card is dealt face-up to each player.
  • A final round of betting begins.
  • “The Showdown”. The player with the best five card hand combination, wins.

Tips to get you in the game, and keep you there!

  • A big pair is worth betting on, unless another player is betting aggressively on what seems to be a very good hand.
  • “The River” is a make-or-break point. As the bet amount doubles each round, ensure your hand can produce a win at the end of the game. This will minimize your loss.
  • It is advisable to fold if another player's exposed cards beat your entire hand.
  • If you are trying to complete a Straight, check to see if the cards you need are displayed by another player. You can then adjust your strategy accordingly.
  • Fold when necessary. 7-Card Stud is a game of patience, so do not bet all your money on losing hands.
